Roxy's book is a book for children aged between five and eight years old.
It is essentially a story about emotional welbeing but originally was to be about domestic violence. However, if you are talking to a child about the book it is a story about a dog called Roxy and the experences she has.
It contains chapters which subtly allow a child to empathise with everyday experiences which, through further discussion, allows a child to analyse the experiences, understand them and help to handle the emotional content. The intention is to allow the child the opportunity to cope with such situations in future in order to protect their welbeing.
The book is currently in the final stages of the first draft. We still need to source an illustrator and create, with the help of outside agencies, a series of questions to help the children draw out their experiences, emotions and coping strategies to manage situations better.
The Books 2nd draft is below. I will update with changes once the review feedback is received. Also, we are sending copies to psychologists and mental health professionals for their feedback.
We wish to make this book reading homework as part of a schools programme. Funding permitting.
