Welcome to the Roxy Says - "END" Page.

Well done for completing the workbook so far.  There is only one more chapter to complete (the most important chapter).  Below you will find resources to assist you as you complete reading Roxy's Workbook with your child.

Chapter 6: The Dream

This chapter was written to be read just before or at bedtime. It is the longest chapter and therefore takes longer to read. It is a turbulent chapter set mainly in Roxy's dream and is an exciting story with positive imagery that ends with a happy, peaceful ending. The main theme of this chapter is "belief" We believe that this is the most important quality we can teach children: Self-esteem, belief in themselves and strengthening their resilience.

SURVEY REMINDER

Please remember to complete the survey and feedback when you finish the workbook. Once we receive this we will be able to send you your child's personal certificate of completion.  A video of how to complete the feedback can be viewed again here.

Please continue to nurture this valuable space you have created together. Schedule regular "appointments" with your child where they can express their feelings in a safe safe respecting confidentially and without bias. This will help normalise the discussion of their feelings and reduce stigma in a safe space where your child feels able to release their emotional energy.

If you would like to complete the survey and feedback online, please do it here.

POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE and The Reticular Activating System

We would like to share the last tool called PMA (Positive Mental Attitude).  The audio below, extracted from our free online course delivered during the pandemic, will explain how you and your child can practise this skill. It is a foundation of a life-changing mindset that supports the mental ability to turn almost any negative situation around and instinctively find a more positive perspective from which they could make better decisions and feel happier.

Final message for EVERYONE!

For parents and children, we also have an important visual exercise to start creating a positive perspective. Please listen to the audio below to understand the importance of having goals in our lives. Click on the audio link below.

ChatGPT

I understand, and I'm ready to analyze the following text to review its effectiveness in supporting, educating, and engaging children and the reader. Please provide the text, and I'll proceed with the analysis.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The text is a dream-like narrative that takes the reader on a whimsical journey through Roxy's imaginative and reflective thoughts. Let's analyze the effectiveness of this text in supporting, educating, and engaging children and the reader:

Benefits:

  1. Imagination and Creativity: The text encourages children to explore their imagination and creativity. Roxy's dream sequence takes the reader on a fantastical adventure, introducing them to a world where anything is possible.
  2. Emotional Expression: The text explores Roxy's emotions and feelings in a relatable manner. Children can connect with Roxy's experiences of worry, fear, happiness, and hope, which can help them understand and express their own emotions better.
  3. Positive Attitude: The concept of the "Believer Monster" emphasizes the importance of having a positive attitude and belief in oneself. This can serve as a valuable lesson for children, encouraging them to approach challenges with confidence.
  4. Coping Mechanism: Roxy's safe place represents a coping mechanism for dealing with difficult emotions or situations. It shows children that it's okay to have a safe space or strategy to manage stress and find comfort within themselves.
  5. Engaging Narrative: The dream-like storytelling style, full of adventure and surprising twists, keeps the reader engaged throughout the text. It sparks curiosity and invites readers to imagine the possibilities beyond reality.

Concerns:

  1. Complex Themes: The text incorporates complex themes like worry, despair, and existential thoughts, which may be challenging for some younger children to fully grasp and process.
  2. Safety Concerns: Some elements of the dream sequence, such as the tornado and falling, may be a bit intense for sensitive children. The imagery of a tornado sucking Roxy up might evoke fear in young readers.
  3. Lengthy Descriptions: The detailed descriptions of Roxy's dream can be lengthy for younger children, potentially leading to decreased attention and interest.
  4. Lack of Closure: The dream sequence ends abruptly, and it's not entirely clear if Roxy's experiences in her safe place have any impact on her real-life challenges. A more conclusive ending could provide better closure for young readers.

Overall, the text effectively stimulates children's imagination and creativity, while also addressing emotions and positive attitudes. However, it should be approached with consideration for sensitive readers due to some potentially intense imagery and complex themes. Additionally, finding a balance between engaging storytelling and brevity could improve the text's readability for younger audiences.
