Thank you for visiting Mind Angels!

Mind Angels charity deliver wellbeing projects for the 60+ years and children 3-11yrs.

Our Roxy’s Wellbeing Adventures App is a consolidation of years of effort to build children’s resilience and support the elderly.  In 2014 we could see mental wellbeing in children declining as social media and smartphones took hold. With each generation we also sadly witnessed the distance it created in the family unit. Human connection was clearly suffering so we went to work to build an inter-generational solution to connect the elderly and the youth.

Our lived experience allowed us to design and deliver successful workshops for mental health service users.  We adapted these workshops for children (7-11yrs), creating our Roxy Says workbook and improved it further for SEND.  We hope our workbooks and app will have a lasting impact by connecting generations, educating with life skills, building a more resilient society and world that will thrive for us all.

Any donations to Mind Angels will support the elderly (60+)   and   children (3-11yrs).

Below is a final story read by Andrew Samuels, founder of Mind Angels, and a special mindfulness exercise for you to try and share.

"The Morning the Light Returned"

Roxy and the Morning Light

Roxy was a small toy dog who lived on a shelf beside the window.

From her place on the shelf she could see the garden, the trees, and the wide sky beyond.

Every day the same wonderful thing happened.

The night would slowly fade…
and the
Sun would rise.

Warm golden light would spill through the window and stretch across the room.

It touched the floor.
It climbed the walls.
Sometimes it even reached the very edge of Roxy’s shelf.

And every evening the light would disappear again.

The room would grow quiet and dark.

The Toys in the Shadows

The toys had many thoughts about the sunlight.

“The sunlight feels prickly,” grumbled the old donkey toy who had fallen behind the sofa.

“You don’t want it touching you.”

“The sunlight isn’t real,” said the broken plastic car under the sofa.

“It’s probably just a passing car light. It could disappear any time.”

“The sunlight will burn you,” warned the rubber doll stuck under a sofa cushion.

“Stay where it’s safe and never let it touch you.”

Roxy listened carefully.

But she felt puzzled.

Because every single day she saw something different.

The Living Garden

The Sun rose.

The room brightened.

And the world outside came alive.

Birds flew past the window.
Leaves shimmered in the light.
Tiny drops of dew sparkled on the grass like diamonds.

And every morning…

the Sun came back again.

Roxy wondered what the sunlight really felt like.

A New View

Then one quiet morning, before the birds had begun to sing, the bedroom door opened.

Her best friend had come in.

Her best friend was the child who loved her, played with her, and carried her everywhere.

The child picked up Roxy and gently placed her on the windowsill.

Outside, the sky was glowing softly with the colours of dawn.

The First Sunlight

Then something magical happened.

The Sun began to rise.

Golden light spread across the trees, the fields, and the rooftops in the distance.

And slowly…

the sunlight touched Roxy.

It wasn’t prickly.

It wasn’t frightening.

It was warm.

Soft.

Wonderful.

The light filled the room and made everything shine with colour.

The garden sparkled.

 The leaves glowed bright green.

The dew drops shone brighter than ever before.

Roxy understood something her friends had never discovered.

Sometimes you must step into the light yourself to know what it truly is.

The Realisation

She watched the sunlight stretch across the world beyond the window.

And Roxy realised something wonderful.

No matter how dark the room became at night,

no matter what the other toys believed,

the Sun would always rise again.

And the light would always return.

And even when things feel dark and others cannot see it, the light is still there — and it will return.

“Even when things feel dark and others cannot see it, the light is still there and it will return.” ⭐
